"Dimebag" Darrell documentary posted on Austrian site

Slayer and Disturbed among those remembering guitar great

Austria's Mulatschag.TV has posted an eight-minute documentary on late
PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott featuring
interview clips with members of DISTURBED, SLAYER, TRIVIUM and
SOULFLY. (Video footage can be seen at left.)

"Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was shot to death along with three others during a
DAMAGEPLAN performance at the Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio in
December 2004.

Dimebag was posthumously inducted into the Hollywood RockWalk in May
2007 in a ceremony attended by Dimebag's brother Vinnie Paul, their father
Jerry Abbott and Dimebag's longtime girlfriend, Rita Haney, along with
members of ALICE IN CHAINS, ANTHRAX, KISS, SLAYER and Ozzy
Osbourne's band.
A bronze bust of Dimebag was unveiled during the ceremony and later installed on the RockWalk's posthumous inductee wall, alongside
luminaries such as Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix and Robert Johnson.

A special one-time only all-star tribute to Dimebag was held on August 9, 2008 at the one-day Ozzfest at Dallas' Pizza Hut Park.

The tribute to "Dimebag" Darrell featured Vinnie Paul (acting as musical director and playing drums), along with an array of prominent hard
rockers, including HATEBREED's Jamey Jasta, SLAYER's Kerry King, SOULFLY's Max Cavalera, King Diamond, ANTHRAX's Scott Ian,
ALICE IN CHAINS' Jerry Cantrell and METALLICA's Lars Ulrich.  (Courtesy

AC/DC Singer Johnson Putting “Thoughts And Anecdotes”
Into New Book

AC/DC singer Brian Johnson has something to do during downtime on the band’s
Black Ice tour: The vocalist has signed a deal with Penguin Books to pen his
memoirs, a collection of “thoughts and anecdotes” he’s compiled in his years as the
singer of the Australian band. Don’t expect a tawdry tale like Motley Crue’s "The
Dirt," however, as Johnson’s 300-page manuscript will have a different tone. “I
like humor a lot,” Johnson said, “and cars have been a big part of my life. I’m
lucky enough that I’m able to buy some of the exotic ones. Instead of doing drugs,
I did motorcars. I’m not sure which one is more expensive.” Stories in the book
will likely include Johnson’s debut ride in a Concorde jet, his first auto race and
that time he drove backwards for 9 1/2 miles because his gears were busted. No
title or print date has been announced yet.

Savatage & related projects get facelift via website

The official SAVATAGE website at www.savatage.com has been completely redesigned
and relaunched. It now features links to several band members' official websites and
Savatage-related bands and projects such as JON OLIVA'S PAIN, CIRCLE II CIRCLE
and TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA. It also includes regularly updated news and
information for all of the aforementioned acts. A slideshow from the ongoing TSO
tours is currently running on the main page. As previously reported, guitarist Chris
Caffery hinted last month that Savatage may not be as dead as everyone has been
led to believe: "It is great to be playing some more Savatage songs in this live (TSO)
show. In the months to come I hope to have some very good news for you all on the
Savatage front. We all have to wait and see, but The Legion still grows stronger and
the future looks very interesting!"  (Courtesy

In related news, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler performed with members of Savatage during the December 12th and 13th performances of
the Trans-Siberian Orchestra at the Nassau Coliseum and Izod Center in Long Island, NY and East Rutherford, NJ. Tyler performed
two songs with the band, "Sweet Emotion" and "Dream On."  (Courtesy
